Delta SigmaPi (co-ed Business fraternity) members are currently selling tickets fora PoBoy sale to be held on Friday, October 30th. For just $5 you receive a sausage PoBoy, a bag of chips, AND a drink. Pick-up of the lunch will be by Denbo and Bancroft Hall (on campus) from 10 am -2 pm. Give yourself a break and support a UL organization by buying your tickets when a member contacts you. The Hospitality Management (HRTM) program at UL Lafayette obtained funding to support a service learning project called “A Head Start for Family and Consumer Sciences: Mentoring by UL Lafayette Hospitality Management Students”.  The project pairs senior level UL Lafayette Hospitality Management (HRTM) interns with 13 Acadiana high school programs offering Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) to over 250 junior and senior high school students. Those schools include: Abbeville High, Beau Chene High, Cecilia High, Breaux Bridge High, Iota High, North side High, Rayne High, Washington Career Center, WD Smith Career Center, Westgate High, Comeaux High, Lafayette High, and Acadiana High schools. The ultimate goal of the project is for the HRTM program to create and foster an ongoing relationship with the Family and Consumer Sciences programs in Acadiana.

Dr. Stewart’s Graduate Marketing class solving $11 million Retail Problem in Delcambre, Louisiana PDF Print E-mail

At the conclusion of developing a master plan for the Town of Delcambre with the UL Community Design Workshop  in the summer of 2007, Dr. Geoffrey Stewart and the UL Department of Marketing were asked to assist in the articulation of the Town’s vision into viable market strategies.  The Town/Port Steering Committee posed an interesting issue that helped frame the initial study and in turn created a multi-semester service learning project with the UL Lafayette MBA program.  After being completely devastated by Hurricane Rita, the Steering Committee presented their situation not as that of a victim, but that of a Town facing an opportunity to address declining economic conditions that have plagued their Town of nearly 50 years.  The challenge was not to simply help the Town rebound from their loss, but it was to focus on the development of marketing plans that would position it for sustainable economic development.

LSBDC at UL-Lafayette's Mark Galyean Honored as State Star PDF Print E-mail
Louisiana Small Business Development Center (LSBDC) State Director, Mary Lynn Wilkerson is proud to announce that Mark Galyean, Center Director of LSBDC at UL-Lafayette, was named the 2009 Louisiana State Star.  Galyean was honored at an awards reception in Orlando, Florida on September 17, 2009, held in conjunction with the ASBDC 29th Annual Conference. The reception recognized the 2009 State Stars from across the nation.
